What’s Happening in Tignes Winter 2021/2022?

Ski resorts can be a busy place and therefore it’s easy to miss out when there’s so much to do and see! To ensure that you make the most of your holiday, we’ve compiled a list of all the goings on in Tignes this season, so you can check to see what’s happening during your stay with us at Chalet Chardons.

If you are staying in one of our chalets in Tignes les Brevieres, our fantastic lift links make it super easy to get to the events listed below. Simply take the Brevieres gondola up to Tignes les Boisses, change at the Boisses gondola, and then jump onto the Aiguille Rouge chairlift. Then, it’s an easy ski down either a red or a blue run to reach the centre of Tignes le Lac where most of the events below are situated. Alternatively, there is a free shuttle bus that runs from Tignes les Boisses to Tignes le Lac and Val Claret.

LES ETOILES DU SPORT – 12^th to 16^th December 2021

There’s sure to be a buzz about the place with the annual ‘Étoiles du Sport’ event being held in Tignes this year. This event celebrates all things to do with sport and encourages young people to get involved in the outdoors.

This year, Tignes is involved with the co-organisation of this event, with live music and sporting events dotted throughout the resort. Each year, a group of young aspiring athletes are selected from a range of different sports to take part in this event, where they are joined by professional athletes from all walks of life. The aim of the event is to build relationships between athletes and encourage young people to strive for success in their chosen sport.

FESTIVITES DE NOEL – 24^th December 2021

Celebrate Christmas in Tignes this year by joining in with the festivities and getting in the Christmas spirit. With events for all members of the family, make your Christmas extra special by wandering down the decorated streets of Tignes-le-Lac, Val-Claret and Val d’Isere.

Visit Santa’s grotto, witness the light displays at the Maison de Tignes le Lac, and (most importantly) spend Christmas in the snow. With festive music playing at every corner and a firework display on Christmas night, ensure this Christmas is one to remember with your group of family and friends.

POP-ROCK NEW YEAR’S EVE– 31^st December 2021

This New Year is sure to be BIGGER and BETTER than ever before with the legendary Tignes Pop-Rock concert party! With a global pandemic ruining everyone’s fun for the past year, here’s your chance to let off some steam and soak up the party atmosphere. Join us at the highest dance floor in Europe at Tignes le Lac where live music will be playing from 11pm to 1am.

Watch the incredible firework display when the clock strikes 12 and bring in the New Year with all your friends and family in these incredible, mountain surroundings. PLUS, this event is completely FREE of charge.

RIDE THE SNAKE – 6^th to 8^th February 2022

Don’t miss out on this epic snowboarding event, where top snowboarders will compete to perform the best tricks, jumps and lines. The event will include a ‘snake’ run, specifically crafted for the occasion, where pro snowboarders will pile down before the run opens to the public.

With three days of festivities, join in the fun if you fancy competing in one of the amateur contests – there’s options for all the family with different levels of expertise if you want to take part and ‘ride the snake’.

TIGNES FREESTYLE WEEK – 5^th to 12^th March 2022

Another event to watch out for if you’re interested in freestyle and fancy a go at the park. This year, its all happening in Tignes with the reintroduction of the DC Park, where the Savoi Mont Blanc Freestyle Tour by FISE will take central stage.

Welcoming some of France’s top freestyle ski and snowboarders, this week-long event will also include demos by professional riders, an indoor skatepark, live music and concerts.

Celebrating all things board culture, this festival is sure to put Tignes back on the map for freestyle. Not to mention, Tignes will host the final of the Slopestyle Freestyle Skiing World Cup from the 10^th to the 12^th March. This event is sure to have a buzzing atmosphere with international freestyle skiers travelling to Tignes from all over.

EUROPEAN SNOW PRIDE – 12^th to 19^th March 2022

This is sure to be a colourful week with parties, skiing and festivities. Tignes is lucky enough to host the biggest European Snow Pride week again this year! Celebrating and supporting the LGBTQ+ community through this carnival style week, Tignes has hosted this inclusive event since 2015.

TIGNES FILM AWARDS – 19^th to 26^th March 2022

Are you a budding sports film photographer or fancy trying a new hobby?

Get your creative hat on and take part in the Tignes Film Awards for the opportunity to have your work displayed on the big screen. Ever thought that your skiing or snowboarding deserves to be captured on film? Get a team together and make it go down in history.

To take part, you must create your short 5-minute film in the ‘filming week’ (1^st to 8^th March) in the area of Tignes or Val d’Isere. The week kicks off with the legendary premier party on the 12^th March where you can strut down Tignes’ very own ‘red carpet’. Films will then be ranked and given awards during the following week. LA BLACK SHOES – 29^th April to 1^st May 2022

Telemark skiing not only looks cool, but as one of the original forms of old school skiing, a large, inclusive community has built up around this iconic type of skiing.

Join us for the 29^th anniversary of Black Shoes, which is renowned as being THE telemark event of the season in Europe. With snowpark sessions, jump contests, ski races for kids AND opportunities for beginners to give telemarking a go, this festive event is bound to have a great atmosphere with something for everyone.
