It’s never too early to start thinking about skiing, and here in Tignes we are lucky enough to have one of the highest resorts in Europe. What does this mean? Early skiing of course!
With the opening of La Grande Motte glacier on 16th October, don’t miss out on the opportunity to sneak in some early season ski days, plus having the bragging rights to say that you’ve skied on a real-life glacier at 3,656 metres.
At this time of year, La Grande Motte welcomes some of the best skiers in the world as it is one of the earliest resorts to open throughout Europe. You may therefore have the chance to spot several world-class athletes training for future competitions.
With six different lifts opening from the 16th October and access to a number of great pistes, there is plenty to keep yourself entertained and start getting those ski legs ready for the season. Hop on the funicular which takes you from Tignes Val Claret up to the glacier, have a bite to eat at one of the mountain restaurants, and take those first turns of the season on the fresh piste.
If you don’t fancy joining the alpine skiers on the piste, why not try cross-country skiing in the dedicated cross-country skiing zone at the glacier. This is the perfect place to practice your skating and try something different.
Whether its skiing, snowboarding, racing or even just a visit to the top of the glacier at this time of year, join us to experience autumn skiing with breath-taking sunsets and early morning sunrises.

Autumn Ski Pass Rates
The following passes are available from the 16th October to the 26th November and give access to La Grande Motte glacier. Furthermore, when you purchase a ski pass you gain access to the pool at Le Lagon in Tignes-le-Lac which is a great way to unwind after a busy day skiing at the glacier.
1 Day Adult Pass: €40
2 Day Adult Pass: €80
6 Day Adult Pass: €240
