There are five villages that make up Tignes, with each providing a different atmosphere and perspective to your ski holiday. Check out our guide below to discover the villages of Tignes and what there is to experience in each!
Tignes les Brevieres (1550m)
The historic and beautiful village of Tignes les Brevieres is the lowest village of Tignes, but still boasts an impressive 1550m (which is still higher than the majority of ski resorts in the Alps!). With picturesque scenery, a meandering river than runs through the middle, beautiful mountain views, and a collection of quaint restaurants and bars, this village has plenty to offer and is great place to stay if you prefer the more peaceful village feel while still being in touching distance of the busier part of resort.
With the majority of our chalets located in Tignes les Brevieres, there is still a buzzing atmosphere and plenty of locals, seasonnaires, and holiday makers. And with travel links to the rest of the resort via the Brevieres bubble, this beautiful alpine village is the perfect spot for your holiday!
Tignes les Boisses (1800m)
Right next to the famous Tignes dam and reservoir, Tignes les Boisses is perched just above the village of Tignes les Brevieres below and has stunning views across the whole valley (you might even be able to spot Mont Blanc).
You can take the bubble from Boisses to access the rest of the resort, or if you don’t fancy skiing, there is a free shuttle bus that runs every 15 minutes during the day which will take you for free to the higher villages of Tignes. There are also two magic carpets making Les Boisses great for beginners.
Tignes les Boisses has an assortment of restaurants, bars and even a spa. Why not grab a takeaway pizza on your way back from après?
Tignes le Lavachet (2000m)
The lowest of the central villages of Tignes, Lavachet is located just below Tignes le Lac, and is within walking distance of Tignes le Lac and Val Claret. The free shuttle bus also services this village, and there are two chair lifts and a button lift which take up up and out into the main resort ski area.
Start your day with a healthy and hearty breakfast at La Cantine, ski down to Box for a bougie brunch or lunch (stock up on your eggs and avocado here), or grab a pizza from Brasero to replenish your energy after a long day on the slopes.
Also located in Lavachet is our much recommended ski shop Tignes Spirit, if you fancy looking at any new kit or ski clothes!
Tignes le Lac (2100m)
In the heart of the resort, Tignes le Lac is the hub of the action. With numerous shops, bars, restaurants, and cafes, there’s plenty to do and see. Featuring the lake of Tignes and accessible from the Palafour chairlift and Toviere bubble, Tignes le Lac is the perfect meeting place to enjoy a drink or head to après (check out our Instagram page for some great après recommendations).
Le Lac is also a great place to pick up some holiday souvenirs from the local street markets. Or, if you fancy some relaxation, visit one spas on the lakeside to rest your ski muscles and enjoy some peace and quiet.
Tignes Val Claret (2300m)
Fancy hitting the clubs during your visit? Tignes Val Claret is your place! There are lots of clubs and bars to choose from if you’re interested in a big night out, not to mention of course the famous après bar Cocorico.
There is also a range of lunch and dinner spots that are perfect for taking a break during your day skiing, or maybe to spend your evening if you fancy doing something different on your chalet night off!
Have a wander through the central streets and pop into some of the great sports and souvenir spots while you’re at it.
