FAQs
FAQs
Below are some frequent questions we are asked regarding our offering.
Who are we?
We are a UK owned and run company offering ski holidays in France, and have been operating for over 25 years. We aim to provide quality good-value chalet accommodation for skiers and snowboarders in Tignes & Val d’Isere in the French Alps.
How do you offer skiing and snowboarding holidays at such reasonable prices?
We use our local knowledge and many years of experience to source accommodation and supplies at the best rates available in order to create our business model based on offering ski holidays at lower prices. Part of this has been basing ourselves in Les Brevieres, which has proven the perfect spot for our chalets to be able to keep prices low while still having access to the whole of Tignes and Val d’Isere.
How far are your chalets in Tignes & Val d’Isere from the ski lifts?
All our accommodation is within 5 minutes walk of a ski lift. In Les Brevieres, most chalets can access the Brevieres gondola either directly or via the Brevieres Elevator lift. And in Val d’Isere, Chalet Amelie is right opposite to the Fornet Cable Car – just 50 metres from the front door.
How do I book my ski or snowboard holiday with you?
Call our reservations team on 01600 800 300 and we can help you with any enquiries (charged at UK local rate, +44 1600 800 300 from abroad). Alternatively, send an email on info@chaletchardons.com and we will reply promptly with a quote.
What does the cost of the ski or snowboard holiday include?
The price of a week holiday on a half-board basis includes the accommodation with breakfast and afternoon tea served every day of the week, with a 4-course evening meal with accompanying wine on 6 out of 7 nights (5 out of 7 for Chalet Amelie). It also includes linen, towels, daily housekeeping, and a hosting service throughout your stay. Our self-catered holidays include before and after stay cleaning, towels, and linen. For full details on what is included, see here.
Do you charge bed supplements?
If you do not reach the capacity of a room booked on a price per person basis, then you will be required to pay a bed supplement per empty bed. The price of this is 50% of the full per person price during off peak weeks and the full per person price minus €80 during peak weeks. Feel free to discuss this with us by email when booking and we will be able to advise you.
Do you have special offers or cheap weeks?
Yes, see the our social media posts or special offers page for details.
Can I stay at one of your chalets for a weekend or just a few days?
We generally operate on a Saturday to Saturday booking basis but we can sometimes take shorter bookings outside of peak-season weeks. Bookings that cross weekends are much more difficult to accommodate but we will always try to help if possible.
Can you arrange transfers from the airport?
Yes, please see our Airport Transfers page for more information.
Do you accept children?
Yes, with special rates. For any child aged 13 or under, a €50 discount is offered. For any child aged 5 or under, a €100 discount is offered. Any infant not requiring a bed or food is free of charge.
How will I pay for my holiday?
You can pay with a credit/debit card when you book (this is usually via our secure online system but phone payments can also be taken). If required, alternative payment methods can be discussed with our reservations team.
Can I stay for an extended ski and snowboard holiday?
We have a number of people who stay at Chalet Hattiers in Tignes les Brevieres for the whole season or sometimes for a month or so. See the Chalet Hattiers Long-stay accommodation page for more details.
We are a large student skiing or snowboarding group. Do you offer reductions?
Yes. Contact us for a quote.
Do you cater for vegetarians/vegans and allergies?
Yes, of course. Let us know at the time of booking if you follow a certain diet or have any dietary requirements or allergies, and we will organise this for you. Please do ensure you let us know in advance if you have food allergies or other special requirements as some foods can be very difficult to source in the mountains. This includes lactose intolerance, nut allergies, celiac or gluten-free. If you have uncommon or specific allergies you may need to bring some specially prepared foods/drinks with you as they can be extremely difficult to find and get delivered in France.
I am travelling to France by train. Can I get from Bourg St Maurice to Tignes?
There is a bus about every hour and a half for about 10 euros or a taxi ride is about 70 euros.
Do you have childcare facilities?
We don’t offer childcare facilities but we do work with some companies who provide these services. Older toddlers (aged about 2 onwards) can be put in the special ‘marmottons’ ski club and there are a number of crèches and other childcare facilities in the resort as well as private nanny services. It is best to research and book these in advance as they are often quite busy and you may find it difficult to get your child into them if left until the last minute to book. Our reservations team can give you some recommendations.
Do you accept dogs?
Unfortunately not, due to potential allergies of other guests.
Do you have internet access?
There is a free Wifi in all our chalets. In general, the internet in the mountains is quite slow and unreliable compared to towns and cities. It will work, but don’t expect fast download speeds.
What is included with the lift pass?
With the full Espace Killy lift pass, all ski lifts are included. The swimming pools in both Tignes and Val d’Isère are also included on the passes for the respective resorts. All the shuttle buses around the resort are free whether you have a pass or not, as are the several small chairlifts on the nursery slopes for beginners including the drag lift in Tignes Les Brévières
Do you have car parking facilities?
There are lots of car parking spaces in Tignes Les Brévières in the two large car parks at either end of the village. Please do not park in unauthorised places around the village as vehicles occasionally get towed if they are causing an obstruction or the road needs to be ploughed. In Val d’Isère there is parking available outside Chalet Amelie but it is somewhat small in size and can fill up plus there is a 48 hour limit on each space. In this case there are car parks in Val d’Isère and the free bus can be caught to get back to the chalet.
What happens if I can’t come on holiday because of Covid-19?
Last year we introduced new flexible cancellation conditions to cover our customers in the event that they are unable to come on holiday due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In brief, if you have to cancel for one of the covid-related reasons specified in our Terms and Conditions, you will receive a cash refund minus only the deposit amount, or you can opt to receive a refund credit note for the full value of your booking, which can be redeemed towards a future booking within 3 years. For a full summary of our flexible conditions, see our Book with Confidence page here, or visit our T&Cs for full details.
