Chalet Chardons is owned by Mark Hayman & Clare Knowlson.
Chardons LTD operates from an office at 6 Beaufighter Road, Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset, BS24 8EE. Chalet Chardons connects customers in the UK with quality chalets in the French resorts of Tignes Les Brevieres and Val d’Isere in France. The UK part of the operation handles all sales, marketing, recruitment and other business activities whilst the French side deals with the running of the chalets and looking after our customers once they are in France.
The Chalet Chardons Ski and Snowboard Hotel currently offers guests around 50 beds in addition to the Hattiers Chalet and Apartments which have up to 40 beds available. As well as this, we offer the 12-bed Chalet Belvedere and the 15-bed Chalet BouBou with a hot tub and sauna. Furthermore, Chalets Sophia and Isabella each provide 17 beds with hot tubs and saunas. There is also Chalet Lo Soli, which sleeps up to 14 people and the 26-bed Chalet Amelie located in the beautiful Le Fornet, Val d’Isere
From the start our philosophy has been to offer the best value ski and snowboard holidays. We offer our guests the best available prices bookable, if necessary, a year in advance as well as flexibility with booking dates and savings on ski-hire and lift passes ready on arrival. All our rooms in the Chardons are fully en-suite and Chalet Hattiers is excellently located a stone’s throw from the pistes and was fully renovated over the summers of 2012 and 2013. We now operate a number of higher end ski chalets, including in Val d’Isere, which offer our famous blend of great food, good company, superb chalets and all at very favourable prices. Think of us as the ‘EasyJet Plus’ of the ski industry and you won’t go far wrong. For a family of four in Chalet Chardons we could be as much as £1000 cheaper for a week’s holiday compared to even ‘mid-range’ tour operators. Enough to buy your ski-passes, hire equipment and have a good meal out during the week. Even in the higher end chalets featuring five-course meals, jacuzzis and other luxuries, the savings are still very noticeable
Originator and Founder of the original Chardons business. Mark has now taken a back-seat and is a valuable consultant to the french side of the business. After originally coming to Tignes in 1992 to wash dishes in Chalet Chardons, Mark, an ex-World Cup snowboard competitor and long-time member of the British Snowboard Team decided to start running his own business and bought the original Chardons Hotel. Following a knee injury sustained in his snowboard career he turned to skiing in his mid-30’s and still enjoys this new challenge. He still gets out on the mountain most days and maintains his original enthusiasm for mountain life and the resort of Tignes. Mark is a also a very keen mountain and road biker, riding many thousands of kilometres between winter seasons, and flies most things with wings including paragliders and sailplanes
Operations Director and co-owner of Chalet Chardons. Clare runs the UK Office and oversees sales & marketing, generation of new business, recruitment of seasonal workers and runs her small, but busy, UK-based team of permanent staff. During the winter months she is often in Tignes either to enjoy the snow or to help out with the French Operations and to ensure our customers are happy. Since leaving her professional career in the UK as a solicitor working in commercial property, she has embraced the mountain lifestyle and added much-needed discipline to the Chardons company. Having quit the Rat-Race she attempts to take advantage of any time she has in France to ski as much as possible.
