How to spend your evenings in Tignes and Val d’Isere

So, your day skiing in the beautiful mountains of the Espace Killy is coming to an end. You’ve got a delicious meal waiting for you back in your chalet but you’re now wondering what else to do this evening. While the warm log fire in the chalet is enticing for a cosy evening in, you do also want to explore what else Tignes and Val d’Isere has to offer – and the answer is lots!

Below are a variety of suggestions for how to spend your apres ski evenings but without having to actually ‘apres ski’. And if you’re staying with Chardons you’ll likely have a weeks’ worth of evenings to fill up; so you’ve got plenty of time to try out some of these ideas.

Visit a sports centre

There are a few different sports centres in Tignes and Val d’Isere which offer a variety of activities including swimming, spa, gym, indoor bouldering, indoor sports courts, and much more.

Try going to Aquasportif in Val d’Isere – a big sports centre with a large swimming pool, a gym, a climbing wall, squash courts, fitness classes, and a wellness spa. Or give Le Lagon in Tignes a go – another large swimming pool, this time with slides, rapids, and shallow areas for kids to splash around in.

If you’re staying in Les Brevieres and wanting something a bit more nearby, there is a spa on the main road, opposite the Chardons office. Or if you make your way up to Les Boisses there’s a larger spa called O des Cimes Spa d’Altitude Kalinda which is great for lots of different treatments and massages.

Concerts

Why not indulge in a bit of culture and take yourself to a concert one evening. From comedy acts to musicians, there are various evening events scheduled across the season for you to enjoy. Take a look at Tignes.net for a full program of events – and keep an eye on this while you’re here as new concerts or events get announced all the time.

Cinema

The cinema in Val Claret screens plenty of films both in English and French so you don’t need to worry about the language barrier. So grab yourself some popcorn and a drink, and treat yourself to a cosy evening watching a film with your friends or family.

Go for an evening meal

While at Chardons we offer dinner and free-flowing wine on six nights of the week, we do give our chefs one evening off which also gives you one evening to explore the restaurant scenes in the nearby towns.

There are plenty of great restaurants in the Espace Killy, from relaxed burger joints to Michelin star winners. So be sure to get some recommendations and treat yourself to an incredible French banquet in one of the pretty village restaurants.

Tobogganing

Can’t get enough of the slopes? Hop on a toboggan and keep the adrenaline pumping.

There are a few different options for organised tobogganing in Tignes and Val d’Isere – take a look at our blog on family fun activities for an overview of which companies offer some incredible tobogganing in the area.

Or if you’d rather just head out and give it a go by yourselves, you can hire out taboggans or sleds from a local equipment hire shop and head to whichever slope takes your fancy. All we ask if you be aware of the safety risks of tobogganing and don’t head off high into the mountains at night. Stick close by, and don’t do it alone.

Snow-mobile

Are you a bit of a thrill seeker? Or maybe a keen motorist? Rent out a snow-mobile and go on a guided tour around the mountains under the starry sky. On the tour, you’ll make a stop at the Mongolian Yurt for a truly authentic mountain experience.

Take a look at the ESF or Evolution 2 websites for details on where these tours begin and how to get involved.

Wilderness camp

For an alternative rustic mountain experience, give the Wilderness camp a go. For children above the age of 16, Evolution 2 runs a wilderness camp for budding explorers to experience the mountain in a whole new way.

The camp involves heading up to a hut near Les Boisses for drinks around a warm crackling fire and then a Savoyard banquet in the traditional yurts. An amazing experience for the whole family, the evening ends with a fun toboggan down the mountain back into Les Brevieres.

Make the most of your chalet

All our chalets have large and cosy living areas and are equipped with TV, game consoles, and DVD players. We also have a selection of board games in all our chalets, so you have plenty of options for a fun-filled evening inside your chalet.

Or if your chalet has a hot tub or sauna, you’ve basically got yourself a private spa!
