Chardons Bivouac, in the heart of Val d’Isère’s beautiful old town area, offers flexible accommodation and modern facilities in a traditional, quaint alpine ski chalet. The location of the chalet is a real gem. It is just a 3-minute walk from the buzz of central Val d’Isère with its bars, restaurants, shops and busy nightnife but is itself in a quiet side-road and only a one-minute walk from the main Solaise and Olympique ski lifts in the centre of the resort. Wooden panelling in the traditional Savoie style creates a warm and cosy atmosphere to unwind after a long day skiing.

Several of the rooms have a mezzanine level offering additional accommodation, making them ideal for families. These rooms on the second floor also have access to the wrap-around balcony, perfect to retire on to enjoy the alpine outdoors after relaxing in the chalet sauna.

As a Chalet serviced by Chardons, Bivouac is exceptional value for this high-end resort and maintains the great atmosphere for which we are renowned. A private chef and host will ensure your holiday is relaxing, your needs are anticipated and your appetite is well satisfied.

Every day we offer a hearty breakfast with continental and hot options, including pastries and freshly baked bread. When you return from your day’s activities you’ll find afternoon tea with cakes and other treats ready and waiting for you to ensure you don’t go hungry before the magnificent 5-course evening meal which includes canapés, a cheeseboard and port. Quality French bottled wine will also be served throughout dinner for a magnificent Alpine experience.

Chardons Bivouac offers accommodation over 3 floors, with space in the eaves being utilised on the upper floor to offer mezzanine accommodation in rooms 2, 3 & 4. Entry to the chalet is on the ground floor. You’ll pass the ski storage area where heated boot warmers are situated. On this floor you will find the owner’s apartment, as well as bedroom 1.

The shared living space is accessed by descending the stairs to the lower ground floor where you’ll find a dining room where the home-cooked breakfast and evening meals are taken. There is also a shared living space in which to enjoy your afternoon tea, play the chalet board games, or just relax in front of the wood burning stove.

On the second floor there are four double or twin bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms with WC, and access to a shared balcony with village and mountain views. Three of the rooms have mezzanine floors, accessed via stairs within the rooms, for additional beds if they are required for groups of three or four persons. Please note these are not suitable for young children.

Chalet Bivouac is available for rent either exclusively for larger groups or on a room-by-room basis. Our prices listed are per person per week for catered accommodation in the chalet. The 13th, 14th and 15th beds are sold at half-price if the whole chalet is booked by a single group. Prices vary according to the season. Contact the UK booking line or by email for a quote.

Chalet Bivouac catering is one of the highlights of your holiday. We believe that skiing and snowboarding should be about getting fresh air, exercise, thrills and spills… and then coming back and completely spoiling yourself!

Our chalets offer restaurant quality breakfast, afternoon tea and a five-course evening meal including canapés and a cheese board each evening served with complimentary French bottled white and red wine.

Breakfast has a selection of French pastries, freshly baked baguette, preserves, yoghurt, fruit, choice of cereals, English tea, freshly brewed coffee, juices, porridge cooked to order and a different hot option daily (for example, on one morning we offer sausage, scrambled egg & tomato; on another morning we offer bacon, fried egg, hash brown and mushrooms).

Afternoon tea is served from 4pm and consists of delicious freshly baked cakes, tea, selection of herbal and fruit teas, freshly brewed coffee, hot chocolate and cordial, all available until dinner. Tea and coffee are available throughout the day and after dinner.

Dinner is served in a communal setting – a 5-course meal including canapes and a cheeseboard. Portions are both high-quality and plentiful, ensuring you will be well fed and nobody will leave the table feeling hungry.

A packed lunch can be ordered for a small fee each day and will be prepared for you to pick up at breakfast if you are going on a day trip or just want to save money on the mountain. Simply let your hosts know the previous evening and they will organise this for you.

Children, vegetarians, vegans and other dietary requirements are all catered for. Just let us know at the time of booking and the menu can be discussed further with your chef and hosts on arrival. If you have specific requirements (vegan, allergies, celiac) we would ask that you let us know sometime in advance so we can prepare and obtain any produce not held in our stores. Please note it is not always possible to buy some specialist items in the Alps.

Chef’s night off is normally on a Tuesday or Wednesday when the hotel staff have some well deserved time off. Our staff will be happy to recommend some of the many excellent restaurants in the village.
