New Years Day 2006, 7am
The one and only Underground Bar!
The primary attraction for quite a few of our clients! The Underground bar is our public bar situated behind Chalet Chardons and is open from 6pm till late every day. Early evening we wheel out the internet computers to allow people to check up on emails and surf the net before the serious business starts later on. Sometimes it is just a quiet pint but often things get a bit more involved. Karaoke, fancy dress night, table football competitions and various drinks promotions are all on the agenda during the week and the famous gas chamber and Dr. pepper cocktails always get the party going. The bar operates a card reduction system for hotel clients giving between 10 and 20 percent off the price of drinks to help your holiday funds go a little further
Famous Underground Bar Drinks
- Gas Chamber
Flaming Sambuca, scalding hot flavoured vodka and the dreaded gas chamber to finish. Cough and splutter your way through then soak up the adulation of your friends.
- Dr Pepper
A fizzy glassful of Amareto, beer and coke to be downed in one. Championship winning burps afterwards!
- Chambulls
Red bull and champagne with a twist. Would be a posh drink in other circumstances.
- B52's
Old as the mountains but still as popular.
- Gorrilla brains
Don't even ask - looks like its name.
- Flavoured Vodkas
Toffee, murray mint, mars, snickers, bounty, skittles, after eight, foxes glacier mint, watermellon, marshmallow, bakewell tart, cherry drops, banoffee pie, chilli, onion, garlic (yuk!)
Promotions
A typical week might include the following:-
- Saturday
A welcome drink to see in the week in a civilized manner - though the cheap vodka shots always threaten to disrupt any notions of getting an early night for the skiing next day.
- Sunday
Karaoke night. Amazing though it sounds, the prospect of getting up and squaking like a strangled cat in front of a bloodthirsty crowd is still as popular as ever...
- Monday
Cocktail night. A chance for the bar staff to show off. Usually they fluff it but it keeps them happy.
- Tuesday
Chalet night off means that most people head off for a night out in Val d'Isere or Tignes. We craftily organize a Tequila night to ensure our hangovers are kept topped up whilst you're away.
- Wednesday
Quiz night. Actually more fun than it sounds as needle matches develop between the drinkers and that team of clever people who went to bed early every other night but suddenly come out of the woodwork to drink Tetley Bitter and take first prize.... Which is a gas chamber!!
- Thursday
Following their defeat on Wednesday, the drinkers make a stunning return to form in the table football competition. All those years down the pub weren't wasted then...
- Friday
The Final Night Party. Fancy dress of some description is the order of the day. The army of toga wearers usually indicates everbody's lack of preparation but the chalet girls always seem to use the night as an excuse for more and more outrageous costumes........ Which is nice!
